SAO PAULO, Sept. 11 -- Brazilian Serie A giants Corinthians have denied speculation that head coach Fabio Carille could leave the club to join Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda.
Widespread Brazilian media reports claim that Carille's representatives have met with Tianjin Teda officials about a proposal for the 45-year-old to join the club early next year.
"Fabio Carille has a contract with Corinthians until the end of next year and we are already planning for 2020," Corinthians football director Duilio Monteiro told reporters on Wednesday.
Tianjin Teda are currently managed by German Uli Stielike and are ninth in the 16-team Chinese Super League standings with eight wins, five draws and 10 losses so far this season.
Carille guided Corinthians to the 2017 Brazilian Serie A title and rejoined the club last year after a spell in charge of Saudi Arabia's Al-Wehda.
The Sao Paulo side are now fourth in Brazil's top division, seven points behind leaders Flamengo after 18 rounds.
