JAKARTA, May 17 -- The Indonesian paragliding squad is confident of winning gold at the Asian Games later this year.
Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi says that paragliding has the most potential to contribute gold medals for the country.
Minister Nahrawi delivered his optimism to President Joko Widodo in a cabinet meeting. "I mentioned in front of ministers that the sport that can potentially contribute gold medals is paragliding," Nahrawi said.
However, the minister admitted opponents from Thailand, Japan, China, South Korea and Nepal are the toughest competitors in the event.
One of the country's paragliders Rika Wijayanti, who won earlier this year in Cyprus, is upbeat about her chances at the Games and has set herself the target of one gold medal.
Indonesia hopes to secure 20 gold medals at the Games. The 18th Asian Games is scheduled to be held later this year in the Indonesian capital
of Jakarta and in Palembang.
