SHENZHEN, China, June 2 -- Chinese pair Lin Gaoyuan/Chen Xingtong won the first ever mixed doubles event in ITTF World Tour on Saturday. The other four finals of China Open will be contested on Sunday.
Lin and Chen took down Japanese pair Morizono Masataka/Ito Mima in the final of mixed doubles in four games: 13-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8.
In men's singles semifinals, Fan Zhengdong dispatched hometown favorite Lin Gaoyuan. In Sunday's final, Fan will meet his national teammate Ma Long, who beat South Korea's Lim Jooghoon in the other semifinal match.
In women's singles semifinals, Chinese rising star Wang Manyu maintained her outstanding form, stopping the adventure of Japan's Ito Mima. She will fight for a consecutive champion after reigning in Hong Kong Open last week. Her opponent in the final will be the grand slam winner Ding Ning.
The women's doubles finals will be played between Chinese pair Ding Ning/Zhu Yuling and South Korea pair Jeon Jihee/Yang Haeun. Ding has a chance to get two gold medals on Sunday.
After defeating world champions Ma Long and Xu Xin, Romania's Ovidiu Ionescu and Spain's Alvaro Robles will fight for the gold medal of men's doubles against another Chinese duo Fan Zhengdong/Lin Gaoyuan.
