BUDAPEST, June 9 -- Australia defeated Hungaria 2-1 here on Saturday in an international friendly ahead of the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
The Socceroos took the lead with a goal by Daniel Arzani in the 74nd minute and kept the result until Trent Sainsbury made an own goal in the 88th minute to see the the score levelled.
The equal score was not maintained to the end as Hungarian player Tamas Kadar also scored an own goal in stoppage time, allowing Australia the 2-1 victory.
Australia will face France, Denmark and Peru in Group C of World Cup.
