BERLIN, June 28 -- Schalke have signed central midfielder Omar Mascarell from league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt, both Bundesliga sides confirmed on Thursday.
The "Royal Blues" have reinforced their midfield following the departures of Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer as Omar Mascarell agreed on a deal until June 2022.
"We are glad that Omar Mascarell has opted for us. He is a player who will help us and who has already proven his qualities in the Bundesliga. I look forward to working with him," Schalke head coach Domenico Tedesco said.
The-25-year old joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer 2017 and made overall 37 appearances to provide one goal.
"It is an incredible feeling to be able to play for this big club in the future. I am very ambitious and I always want to win," the new arrival said.
Mascarell is after Mark Uth, Salif Sane, Suat Serdar and Steven Skrybski the fifth summer signing for Schalke.
The "Royal Blues" completed the Bundesliga season 2017-2018 on the 2nd place to secure a berth in next season's UEFA Champions League group stage.
