QUITO, Aug. 15 -- Napoli have joined the race to sign highly rated Ecuadorian teenager Leonardo Campana, according to the striker's agent.
The 19-year-old is considered one of the most promising forwards in South America, having scored six goals in nine matches for Ecuador's U-20 team this year. His prolific form earned him a call-up to Ecuador's senior national team for friendlies against Honduras and the United States in March.
"Our preference is for him to go to Europe," Campana's representative Frederico Pena was quoted as saying by local media. "We are very proud of the interest from Napoli because they are giants."
Campana, who has also been linked with Real Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan, has scored three times in nine appearances for Ecuadorian top-flight club Barcelona SC this year.
Pena added: "I can confirm there is interest from other clubs but I prefer not to mention names. He is a mix between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry. He's tall, strong and technically gifted on both sides of his body."
