RABAT, Aug. 1 -- Welsh Osian Roberts has been appointed as new technical director of the Moroccan Football Federation on a five-year deal, said the federation in a statement on Thursday.

Roberts, 54, worked as Football Association of Wales' technical director and assistant manager.

The Football Association of Wales FAW confirmed Thursday evening his departure.

"The FAW can confirm that Osian Roberts will step down from his role as technical director of FAW Trust and assistant manager of the Welsh national team to become technical director at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, " it said.
