WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 -- China's Wang Yafan and Yang Zhaoxuan reached the women's doubles quarterfinals of the Washington Open after defeating Alison Bai of Australia and Elixane Lechemia of France in straight sets on Wednesday.
The Chinese pair needed just 55 minutes to dispatch their opponents 6-0, 6-3.
In the first set, Wang and Yang were in total control over the play, converting on three out of four breaking chances to claim the set in 22 minutes.
In the second set, the Chinese pair were still the ones who called the shots, being broken by Bai and Lechemia twice but breaking back four times to take the eventual victory.
Coming up next for Wang and Yang will be a quarterfinal match against Americans Jessica Pegula and Shelby Rogers.
