Researchers believe they have identified why a mutation in a particular gene can lead to obesity, BBC reported。

Mice experiments suggested the body's message to stop eating was blocked if the animals had undergone this mutation. The study, published in Nature Medicine, said the brain's response to the appetite hormones was being interrupted。

The Georgetown University Medical Center researchers hope their findings can lead to new ways to control weight。

据英国广播公司报道，研究人员通过动物实验，揭示了基因变异导致肥胖的原因。

白鼠基因发生此类变异后，终止进食指令传递受阻，大脑对食欲激素反应紊乱，该成果已发表在《自然医学》杂志上。
