TIRANA, July 10 -- The Albanian soccer team Partizani made a 0-0 draw with visiting Azeri team Qarabag here on Wednesday in the first leg of first qualifying round of UEFA Champions League.
Qarabag created more pressure in the first half, but the host team Partizani had more chances, especially during the second half.
The rainy weather conditions did not make it easier for the footballers who played in "Selman Stermasi" stadium in the capital city Tirana on Wednesday afternoon.
In the 21st minute Qarabag lost a great opportunity as Filip Ozobic's shot hit the crossbar.
In the 40th minute, Partizani midfielder from Ghana, Emmanuel Mensah's shot went to the hands of the Brazilian goalkeeper Vagner of Qarabag.
The second half started with a good action in the 51st minute from Partizani when Cinari and Egzon Belica created two chances but the shots were blocked by Vagner.
The three minutes added did not change the final result of 0-0.
Partizani will play with Qarabag in the second leg on July 17.
According to the local media, this match was a test for the newly appointed Partizani's coach, the Italian Franko Lerda, who took the helm of the club only last month.
Partizani Football Club, founded in 1946, won the 16th Albanian Championship title last season.
