LE HAVRE, France, June 16 -- Forward Li Ying, who scored the winner to gift China the 1-0 win over South Africa in FIFA Women's World Cup Group B, said here Sunday that the whole team would do the best to beat Spain in their last group match on Monday.
Both China and Spain lost to Germany 1-0 and beat World cup debutants South Africa. Spain are standing second of the group due to a goal difference advantage as they beat South Africa 3-1.
The top two of the six four-team groups and the four best third-placers will advance to the round of 16 knockout stage.
The Stade Oceane in Le Havre is ready for Monday's duel.
"The pitch was amazing, " Li, China's No. 10, told Xinhua in the stadium. "I have the strong desire to win on this pitch, but my performance have not met my expectation yet, I wish to do more in the next match."
Talking about the Spanish team, Li Ying said, "They are wonderful in many aspects, for example, their skills and teamwork, so we must try our best."
