PARIS, June 14 -- Paris Saint-Germain will kick off their Ligue 1 title defense against Nimes in the 2019-20 season as the French professional football league (LFP) revealed the schedule on Friday.
The 2019-20 season is set to start on August 9, with the duel between Monaco and Lyon as highlight of the opening round. The season will conclude on May 23, 2020.
PSG will host Marseille in Le Classique in the weekend of October 26.
According to the schedule, each team will play 9 or 10 home matches in each half of the season, and three away games at most in a five-game span.
The LFP said that the calendar is formalized based on sporting aspects, wishes of clubs and broadcasters, as well as climatic and organizational constraints.
Prior to the kick-off of the new season, Paris Saint-Germain will compete against French Cup winner Rennes for the French Super Cup glory in Shenzhen, China on August 3.
