BERLIN, June 13 -- Mainz have completed the transfer of Ronael Pierre-Gabriel from French top-flight club Monaco, the Bundesliga team announced in an official statement on Thursday.
The 21-year-old right back and Mainz agreed on a five-year deal, which will bind Ronael Pierre-Gabriel to the Bundesliga club until summer 2024.
"With his tackling power, dynamism and physique he has the optimal requirement to become a strong right back. He always goes aggressively to the ball and is a fighter," Mainz head coach Sandro Schwarz said.
Pierre-Gabriel played since 2018 for Monaco and made four competitive appetences so far. It was a tough season for the youngster as Monaco was battling against their relegation.
"I have heard a lot of positive things about Mainz. A club that has a lot of confidence in young player, especially French players, so I did not hesitate when this opportunity came up," the defender said.
The curtain raiser of the Bundesliga season 2019-2019 is scheduled for August 16.
