JAKARTA, April 4 -- Indonesia will hold an international boxing tournament in East Nusa Tenggara province later this year, an official said on Thursday.
The event is scheduled to be held in July in Manggarai Barat district, said Paulus Jeramun, spokesman of the administration of the district.
"We will be the host of the international tournament in July which will involve boxers from 22 nations," he said.
The spokesman added that a total of 20 countries had given confirmation of participation in the event.
The international event is also expected to help promote the tourism sector in the western parts of Flores Island, he was quoted by state's Antara news wire as saying.
The spokesman said that 100,000 spectators from the participating countries are expected to arrive in the island.
