BEIJING, March 1 -- Defending champions Shanghai SIPG smashed Shanghai Shenhua 4-0 to win Shanghai Derby when the 2019 Chinese Super League (CSL) season kicked off on Friday.
Cai Huikang's header from a free kick broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, before Lyu Wenjun scored the second goal for Shanghai SIPG in the 64 minute, and Brazilian striker Oscar scored in 77th minute to make it 3-0.
Odil Akhmedov scored the last goal on a quick counter-attack in the 87th minute to wrap up SIGP's fifth straight win over their cross-town rivals in CSL.
Guangzhou Evergrande, the runners-up of last season, beat Tianjin Tianhai 3-0 at home. Wei Shihao scored in the 23rd minute from Li Xuepeng's pass, and Zhang Chenlin's own goal in the 36th minute helped Guangzhou to widen the gap. Feng Xiaoting scored in the 66th minute to seal the victory for Guangzhou.
Elsewhere, Shandong Luneng beat Beijing Renhe 1-0 at home, and Beijing Guoan edged Wuhan Zall 1-0 on the road.
