LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 -- British pop singer Dua Lipa took home the award for Best New Artist at the 61st annual Grammys, held at the Staples Center complex in the U.S. city of Los Angeles on Sunday.
Lipa, together with supergroup Silk City, also snagged Best Dance Recording for the song "Electricity."
Lipa released her self-titled debut album in June 2017, and its hit single "New Rules" later peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In February 2018, Lipa won two BRIT Awards for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. In April, the single "One Kiss" by Lipa and Calvin Harris reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
"No matter where you are from, or your background, or what you believe in, never let that get in the way of you and your dreams, because you deserve it," she said on stage.
Lipa was born on Aug. 22, 1995 in London to Albanian parents.
