JINAN, Oct. 20 -- Brazilian striker Roger Guedes had his first goal in Chinese Super League (CSL) to help Shandong Luneng with a 2-0 victory over Tianjin Teda here on Saturday in the 26th round of the CSL.
The two teams both needed a win desperatly, as Teda struggled to stay in CSL instead of relegation, and Luneng desired to keep the third place. Teda had a good start but failed to score a goal. Graziano Pelle of Luneng headed in the opening goal at the 24th minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Luneng had a couple of chances. In the 72nd minute, Guedes got a pass from Pelle and scored his first goal in CSL.
The 22-year-old Brazilian joined Luneng in mid July on loan, and made his debut for the club on 28 July.
"Guedes certainly played more actively than before, but he needs time to adapt to the team. There will be more competition between him and Diego Tardelli," said Luneng head coach Li Xiaopeng at the post-match press conference.
