BERLIN, Sept. 16 -- Bayern Munich lost midfielder Corentin Tolisso and defender Rafinha to injuries, the German record champions confirmed in an official statement on Sunday.
The "Bavarians" sealed their third win in as many games after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 on Saturday.
It was, however, a costly win for Bayern as Corentin Tolisso sustained a cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in his right knee. Tolisso underwent a surgery on Sunday and will be sidelined for "several months".
Meanwhile, Rafinha suffered a ligament injury in his left ankle following a rude foul play by Karim Bellarabi, who saw a straight red card in the 83rd minute. The Brazilian will be also out of action for several months.
"I am very sad and disappointed about the fact that we have lost two players to injuries. The victory is great but we paid with injuries and that upsets my mood," Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac said.
The German giants lead the Bundesliga after starting with three victories to ensure a two-point advantage atop the standings.
