RIO DE JANEIRO, July 31 -- Palmeiras have reached an agreement to sign Paraguay international center-back Gustavo Gomez on loan from AC Milan, according to widespread media reports.
The Brazilian club will pay the Italian giants 1.5 million euros in a deal that will expire next July, Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte said.
Gomez, capped 26 times for Paraguay's national team, had also been linked with Argentine giants Boca Juniors and Rio de Janeiro outfit Flamengo.
The 25-year-old is expected to undergo a medical this week and could make his Palmeiras debut on Sunday in their Brazilian Serie A clash against America Mineiro.
Palmeiras, who are sixth in the 20-team league standings, last week appointed former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to replace Roger Machado.
Gomez has made just 19 league appearances for AC Milan since joining the club from Argentina's Lanus in 2016.
