MADRID, July 24 -- FC Barcelona are on the verge of signing Bordeaux's 21-year-old Brazilian winger Malcom.
The Spanish press reported the 21-year-old, who had been expected to join Roma on Monday, would instead sign for the La Liga Champions in a deal worth around 40 million euros.
Malcom decided to turn his back on a move to Italy at the last minute after hearing of the interest from Barca, where he would add further options to an attack including Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Phillipe Coutinho.
Once the deal is made official and he is presented to the press and the public, Malcom will join the rest of the Barca squad, which is on the verge of starting a pre-season tour of the USA, which will last until early August.
The is the third new signing to arrive at Barca this summer, following that of French defender Clement Lenglet from Sevilla and Brazilian midfielder Arthur, meaning the club has confirmed that right back Douglas has been loaned to Turkish side Sivasspor.
