Module6 The Tang Poems
My interest in nature began at a very young age, when I would capture any insect unlucky in our apartment and study them for hours. When I was eight,my family moved to our current address, and there was a large plot of unused land just across the road.It was my first experience with wilderness. The grass was long and untamed, and my imagination filled it with all sorts of wonderful creatures from snakes to wild deer.
Now,the former grassland is filled with half a dozen buildings, and more are under construction.I am not going to be particular about the loss of nature, because it is almost certainly unavoidable.I am grateful, however, for the happiness brought to me by that grassland in childhood, when I ran around looking for four-leaf clovers and filling my pockets with pink flowers.I am a born and bred city girl, but that grassy playground brought me to a different world.
And now,if I could take my steps into adulthood,I would realize that I don't want to spend the rest of my life in an office. My childhood dream of living in a house with a backyard where I can grow my own plants has slowly turned into an ambition for being a farmer.I understand that being a farmer is not just about playing in the fields and sleeping under the stars. It is hard work. However, most jobs are hard work.
In China, where I was born, few people want to be farmers. Those living in rural areas try their best to leave their farms behind, entering the cities in search of low-wage jobs as factory workers. In today's world, where food consumption far exceeds food shortage,I believe that it is time for a new breed of farmers who understand science and technology as well as they understand crops and animals.
1.What can we conclude from the passage?
A.The author's interest dates back to her childhood.
B.The author was born from a farmer's family.
C.The author was determined to take up farming.
D.The author got troubled with the city life.
解析:选A。
2.What does the underlined word “untamed” in the passage mean?
A.thickB.wild
C.planted
D.crushed
3.The second paragraph implies that________.
A.the local destroyed nature on purpose
B.the author once disliked nature at all
C.there is too little space for too many people
D.construction means better economy development
4.Before the author wants to be a farmer________.
A.she has spent some time living with farmers
B.she has taken a job in the office
C.she has missed her backyard with plants
D.she has got tired of work in city
根据文章第三段的“if I could take my steps into adulthood,I would realize that I don't want to spend the rest of my life in an office”可知,作者现在在办公室上班,故B项符合文意。
Tips for Cooking on a Tight Schedule

Make your time worth it .When you do find time to cook a meal, make the most of it and save yourself time later on .Are you making one loaf of bread ? 3.____________It takes around the same amount of time to make more of something .So save yourself the effort for a future meal .
4.____________ This may surprise you,but one of the best tools for making cooking worth your time is experimentation .It gives you the chance to hit upon new ideas and recipes that can
work well with your appetite and schedule. The more you learn and the more you try,the more ability you have to take control of your food and your schedule.
Hopefully that gives you a good start.5.____________ And don’t let a busy schedule discourage you from making some great changes in the way you eat and live!
