Shopping for clothes is not the same experience for a man as it is for a woman. A man goes shopping because he needs something. He knows what the wants, and his purpose is to find it and buy it, the price is a less important consideration. All men simply walk into a shop and ask the assistant for what they want. If the shop has it, the salesman immediately produces it, and the business of trying it on is done at once. All being well, the bargain (交易) can be and often is completed in less than five minutes, with hardly any chat and to everyone's satisfaction.

For a man, slight problems may begin when the shop does not have what he wants. Then the salesman tries to sell the customer (顾客) something else---he offers the nearest he can to the thing required. He usually says, "I know this jacket is not the style (式样) you want, sir, but would you like to try it on for size? It happens to be the colur you wanted. " Few men have -patience with this treatment, and the usual reply is: "This is the right colour and may be the right size, but I should be wasting my time and yours by trying it on."

Now how does a woman go about buying clothes? She does so in the opposite way. She has never fully made up her mind what she wants, and she is only "having a look round". She is always open to persuasion, indeed she considers of great importance what the saleswoman tells her, even what her friends tell her. She will try on any number of things. Highest in her mind is the thought of finding something that everyone thinks suits her. Most women have an excellent sense (判断力) of value when they buy clothes. They are always trying to find an unexpected bargain. Faced with a roomful of

dresses, a woman may easily spend an hour going from one counter (柜台) to another before selecting the dresses, she wants to try on. It takes a great deal of time but gives great joy. Most dress shops supply chairs for the waiting husbands.

  1. When a man is buying clothes, he______.

  A. puts price before quality

  B. chooses things that others think suitable for him

  C. does not mind much the price he has to pay for the right things

  D. buys good quality things, so long as they do not cost to much

  2. From the passage, we know that in shopping for a jacket______.

  A. men like their jackets to be bigger than their size

  B. most men can tell whether it is the right size for them

  C. men make sure it fits them before buying it

  D. men don't worry whether the clothes fit well or not so long as it is the right colour

  3. When a man cannot get what he wants, he _____.

  A. buys something of the same colour in a slightly different style

  B. usually does not buy anything

  C. will try on some other clothes of the same style

  D. wastes no time in buying something else

  4. What does the passage tell us about women shoppers for clothes?

  A. They welcome suggestions from anyone.

  B. Women seldom consider buying cheap clothes.

  C. Women often buy things without thinking.

  D. They listen to advice but never take it.

  5. The most obvious difference between men and women shoppers is _____.

  A. that men do not try clothes on in a shop while women do

  B. that women bargain for their clothes and men don't

  C. that women do their shopping standing up but men do theirs sitting down

  D. the time they take over buying clothes

If the shop has it,the salesman immediately produces it,and the business of trying it on is done at once.”

从第三自然段的“She has never fully made up her mind what she wants”,和“She considers of great importance what the saleman tells her, even when her friends tell her”两句话中,可以看出,A是本题的最佳答案。

Millions of people pass through the gates of Disney's entertainment parks in California, Florida and Japan each year. What makes these places an almost universal attraction? What makes foreign kings and queens and other important people want to visit these Disney parks? Well, one reason is the way they're treated once they get there. The people at Disney go out of their way to serve their "guests," as they prefer to call them, and to see that they enjoy themselves.

All new employees, from vice presidents to part-time workers, begin their employment by attending Disney University and taking "Traditions I . " Here, they learn about the company's history, how it is managed and why it is successful. They are shown how each department relates to the whole. All employees are shown how their part is important in making the park a success.

After passing "Traidtions I," the employees go on to more specialized training for their

specific (具体的) jobs. No detail is missed. A simple job like taking tickets requires four eight-hour days of training. When one ticket taker was asked why it took so much training for such a simple, ordinary job, he replied, "What happens if someone wants to know where the restrooms are, when the parade starts or what bus to take back to the campgrounds?... We need to know the answers or where to get them quickly. Our constant aim is to help our guests enjoy the party. "

Even Disney's managers get involved in the daily management of the park. Every year, the managers leave their desks and business suits and put on special service clothes. For a full week, the bosses sell hot dogs or ice cream, take tickets or drive the monorail (单轨车), and take up any of the 100 jobs that make the entertainment park come alive. The managers agree that this week helps them to see the company's goals more clearly.

All these efforts to serve the public well have made Walt Disney Productions famous. Disney is considered by many as the best mass service provider in America or the world. As one long-time business observer once said, "How Disney treats people, communicates with them, rewards them, is in my view the very reason for his fifty years of success... I have watched, very carefully and with great respect and admiration, the theory and practice of selling satisfaction and serving millions of people on a daily basis, successfully. It is what Disney does best. "

  1. The first day they come to Disney parks, all new employees_______.

  A. begin by receiving on-the-job training

  B. must learn several jobs

  C. begin, as ticket takers

  D. have already attended Disney University

  2. The main objective of the Disney employees is to _____.

  B. see that their guests enjoy themselves

  C. be able to answer all kinds of questions

  D. keep their important guests happy

  3. Each year, managers wear special service clothes and work in the park to _____.

  A. set a good example for employees

  B. remind themselves of their beginnings at Disney

  C. gain a better view of the company's objectives

  D. replace employees on holiday

  4. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

  A. Tourists learn the history of Disney in its entertainment parks.

  B. Disney attracts people almost from all over the world.

  C. Parades are regularly held in Disney's entertainment parks.

  D. Disney's managers are able to do almost all kinds of work in the Disney parks.

  5. This passage is mainly about _____.

  A. how Disney employees are trained

  B. the history and traditions of the Disney enterprises

  C. why Disney enterprises make a lot of money

  D. the importance Disney places on serving people well

且要想当一名ticket taker,需要进行four eight-hour days of training,所以第一天就当tibket taker是不可能的,因此排除C项,而且all new employees必须先通过"Traditon I"课程,然后才能进行specialized training for their specific jobs,所以排除B项。

Our constant aim is to help our guests enjoy the party.

The managers agree that this week helps them to see the company's goals more clearly.

B项是all new employees受训过程中必学的。
