The Keelbilled Toucan (彩虹巨嘴鸟) is also known as the Rainbowbilled Toucan because of the colourful bill that the Keelbilled Toucan has.The Keelbilled Toucan’s bill can reach lengths of nearly 20 cm and is around one third of the length of the Keelbilled Toucan’s body. The Keelbilled Toucan’s bill is one of the most colourful bills in the bird world, and it’s more a green colour than anything else.

As with other species of toucans, the size of the Keelbilled Toucan’s bill does not affect the balance of the bird itself

The Keelbilled Toucan has a diet with large quantities of different kinds of fruit. However, because of the surprising dexterity of its bill, the Keelbilled Toucan also eats bird eggs and insects,if there’s not enough fruit.

The Keelbilled Toucan is an extremely sociable bird and is very hard to be seen on its own.As well as nesting together, the Keelbilled Toucan travels in small groups.Different from what people think though, the Keelbilled Toucan is not very good at flying and does most of its moving about by jumping between the tree branches.

A female Keelbilled Toucan lays between 1 and 5 eggs in

the hole of a tree, which usually hatch within a few weeks. Both the male and female Keelbilled Toucan hatch the eggs

and both Keelbilled Toucan parents also feed and look after

their babies until they are old enough and strong enough to protect themselves.
