(2016·赣州市十三县市期中联考)Some people collect stamps. Other people collect works of art or musical instruments. But a man in the American state of Maryland collects secrets.

For the past 10 years, people have been sending Frank Warren postcards and other objects with secrets written on them. He now has a million secrets. “It's a drawing of a lift. And the secret says: ‘I feel guilty when I take lifts for one floor, so I limp when I get out.’” Frank said.

Ten years ago, Mr. Warren created an art project called PostSecret. People then began to send him postcards, other objects and emails telling their secrets. Every Sunday, he chooses 10 secrets and puts them on the website.

Mr. Warren says he created PostSecret so people could share their secrets in a safe place. “I was struggling with secrets in my own life. And it was by creating this safe place where others could share their secrets with me, I think that space was something I needed just as much as they did.”

He has published six books full of the secrets people have shared with him. One secret in each book is his. Eric Perry delivers mail for the U.S. Postal Service. He has brought thousands of secrets to Frank's home over the past three years. “I have a couple of the books that Frank's given me and I've read them all and my family have read them all and it's wild!”

The project itself was once one of Frank's secrets. His wife Jan didn't know exactly what he was doing until the first book was published. The publisher told him that the address was going to be on the book, and he refused. However, the address was there just because of the contract between them. (2016·洛阳高三模拟)I met my friend when we were in graduate school, and we enjoyed hanging out together outside of class. After receiving our degrees, we both left school to live in different states. That was 10 years ago.

We've kept in touch, but our phone conversations and twiceayear visits became opportunities for my friend to talk endlessly about her problems. When I tried to fill her in on my own life, she obviously ignored.

In the past few years I've not visited her at all and been afraid of her occasional phone calls and visits to my house. She invites herself now because I no longer invite her. When she's at my home, she literally follows me from room to room, talking nonstop, until I make an excuse to get away from her. I tell her I need to take a nap, but I don't sleep. I sit in my room and read or enjoy the quiet.

Here's the worst part. She and her family, including two young children, are moving to our city. Her family has a small income, and they are buying a house in a grand neighborhood they can't afford. She asked if she and her husband and her children could stay at my home on their trips to our town to deal with house matters.

My husband and I have no children. Even though our home is tiny and perfectly sized for us, I let them stay. She told me her husband would start his new job before they finished purchasing this house. I felt obligated to offer her our guest room. If I hadn't offered, she would have asked anyway.

Now he's here, and it turns out he'll be staying on through the weekends. I am seething.

I would never under any circumstances impose on a friendship this way. I feel used, resentful, and don't care if I ever see her again. Should I end this friendship? I'm getting absolutely nothing from it but a knot in my stomach.

  3.were arguing 根据语境可知,此处表示“村民们围着我在争论谁能有幸邀请到我这位客人”,故用过去进行时。

  4.as as a guest “作为客人”。

Some people complain that it is hard to build up a good parentchild relationship because of the generation gap. In my opinion, this mainly results from misunderstandings or a lack of communication.

There isn't such a problem in my family. Whenever I am in a difficult situation or have trouble making decisions, I turn to my parents for advice. They are happy to discuss things with me and willing to listen to me. When my parents have difficulties, they also ask for my advice. I like this way of solving problems. In addition, my parents never force me to do what I don't like. I'm glad I have such good parents.
