  M:Women change !

  Text 7

M:Yes. It's about half an hour's walk. If you take a bus,it will take you ten minutes or so. But I don't know when the next bus will come.

W:Oh, I see. But my baby is seriously ill. I have to take him to see a doctor as soon as possible.

M:Then you'd better take a taxi. It will save you a lot of time.

W:You're right. Thank you very much.

  M:You're welcome.

  Text 9

W:Did you enjoy your time with Jenny last Saturday?

M:Not so much. We went boating in the afternoon. The weather was fine at first, but then it became windy. It was quite dangerous. Jenny almost fell into the water.

W:Why didn't you check the weather report?

M:I didn't expect there would be wind.

W:You are not careful. You haven't done enough to show your love for Jenny.

M:I guess you are right. Jenny didn't look happy after we came back. I invited her to go to see a movie with me tomorrow, but she said she would stay with her grandma instead.

  W:She has a good reason.

M:You mean she's angry with me?

W:No. Jenny hasn't seen her grandma for months and she loves her grandma very much. So she of course wants to spend some time together with her.

  M:What should I do?

W:Spend some time with her grandma too, of course. That will please Jenny.

  M:I'll follow your advice.

  Text 10

There is a very special dog that lives in Africa. It is called the African wild dog. These animals live in open woodlands, or in the plains of Africa. Today most of these animals can be found in eastern or southern Africa. These animals are beautiful. They have rounded ears and have four toes on each of their four feet. Their fine fur is always different from each other. The fur usually has different colors, so they are also called “the painted wolf”. African wild dogs live in groups that number from five to about twenty. The members of a group are always very close to one another. They communicate with their barking or body language. When someone is very old or sick, the others will help, and they are willing to share food with the elderly and with those who are weak. The family does everything together, from raising young to hunting. When they hunt, they will work together to kill large animals. They also like to eat farm animals. This is unfortunate because they are often shot because of that. Today, there are very few African wild dogs in the wild. In the past, there used to be many large groups throughout the land. They are also becoming fewer because of the loss of their places to live.

New Yorkers are gradually getting used to more bicyclers on those hot blue City Bikes. But what about local bike shop? Is City Bike rolling up riders at their expense? At Gotham Bikes in Tribeca, manager W.Ben said the shop has seen an increase in its overall sales due to the bikeshare program.“It's getting more people on the road,”he said.James Ryan,an employee at Danny's Cycles, said City Bike is a good option for people to ease in a city famous for its traffic jams.“They can try out a bike without buying one.”he said.

Rentals are not a big part of the business at either Gotham Bikes or Danny's Cycles. But for Frank's Bike Shop,a small business on Christopher St.,the bikeshare program has been bad news.Owner Frank Arroyo said his rental business has decreased by 90% since City Bike was rolled out last month.Arroyo's main rental customers are European tourists, who have since been drawn away by City Bikes.

However,Ben said the bikeshare is good for bike sales at his shop.“People have used the bikeshare and realized how great it is to bike in the city, then decide that they want something nicer for themselves,”he noted.Andrew Crooks, owner of NYC Velo,at 64 Second Ave.,said at first he was concerned about bikeshare, though,he admitted,“I was happy to see people on bikes. It seemed like a great idea, but one that would be difficult to implement(实施).”Crooks said he worried about inexperienced riders' lack of awareness of biking rules and strong negative reaction from noncyclists. However,he said it's still too early to tell if his business has been impacted. While it's possible that bikeshare will cause a drop in business,Crooks thought that the idea was a positive step forward for New York City.

Your friends' lives may look more exciting than yours on Facebook, but new research shows that is because they are faking(伪造)it.

A recent survey has found around twothirds of people on social media post images(图像) to their personal information to make their lives seem more adventurous. And more than three quarters of those asked said they judged their peers(同龄人)based on what they saw on their Instagram,Snapehat or Facebook pages.

The British survey,by smartphone maker HTC,found that,in order to make our own pages and lives appear more exciting, six percent also said they had borrowed items to include in the images in order to pass them off as their own.More than half of those surveyed said they posted images of items and places purely to show off,causing_jealousy among friends and family.

Behavioural psychologist Hemmings said the trend was unsurprising due to the rise of social media.“We're living in a world of instant communication.”she said.“Fashion and style used to live and die in magazines;now people are in search of authentic, peertopeer recommendations as well, making social media an equal power house to magazines and newspapers.”

“With images being shared in an instant we desire to know what our friends are wearing,or what super stars are buying, as soon as they have got them.” Such is the influence of social media sites like Instagram,76 percent of those asked also said seeing items on social media influences them to buy them, with men more likely to take style advice and buy what they see.

Many people admit that they aren't prepared financially for life's unexpected challenges and emergencies. If your New Year's decision is to become more financially prepared for a“rainy day”, the following tips are helpful for you to save.

  Start saving now.

Set specific savings goals and break them down to a set dollar amount to save each paycheck. __36__ Save at least a small portion of each paycheck and remain committed to saving, and then look for ways each month to increase the amount.

  __37__

One of the simplest ways to find money to put toward your rainy day fund is to keep a close eye on where your money is being spent. For two or three months, try keeping track of every expense, including small ones. Once you have a better idea of where your money is going, make a budget that includes a spending and savings plan. __38__

  Make saving automatic.

__39__ If your goal is to save $5,000 this year, calculate the amount you'll need to save from each paycheck, then arrange to have it automatically saved into your savings account each time you get paid. Visit your bank branch and ask a banker if you can set up automatic transfers into your savings account.

  Go on a spending diet.

Avoid spending any money on nonessentials for 30 days and challenge yourself to save as much as you can to put toward your rainy clay fund. __40__ Then make a list and determine not to spend on these items for one month.

  A.Track your spending.

  B.Put your savings to work.

C.Do remember: Actions always speak louder than words.

D.The important thing is to start saving now, no matter how little.

E.Treat your rainy day account like you'd treat any other financial obligation(债务).

F.Review your budget at the end of every month and determine if your spending is in line with your plan.

G.Review your budget and identify extra or nonessential expenses, such as eating out, shopping, entertainment, etc.

Save at least a small portion of each paycheck...也说明了与D项的no matter how little相照应。

For two or three months, try keeping track of every expense, including small ones.

Then make a list and determine not to spend on these items for one month.

Louis invited his friends to lunch one day. He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen. Suddenly, he __61__(find) that he had run out of salt. So Louis called to his son, “Go to the village and buy some salt, but pay a fair price for it: neither too much __62__ too little.”

His son looked surprised. “I can understand why I shouldn't pay too much, Father, but if I can pay less, __63__ not save a bit of money?”

“That would be a very __64__(reason) thing to do in a big city, but it could destroy a small village like ours,” Louis said.

Louis's guests, __65__ had heard their conversation, asked why they should not buy salt more cheaply if they could. Louis replied, “The only reason why a man would sell salt __66__ a lower price would be that he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage of that situation would be showing a lack of respect for the sweat and struggle of the man who worked very hard to produce __67__.”

“But such a small thing couldn't __68__(possible) destroy a village.”

“In the beginning, there was only __69__ very small amount of unfairness in the world, but everyone added a little, always __70__(think) that it was only small and not very important, and look where we have ended up today.”

  61.______ 62.______ 63.______ 64.______ 65.______

  66.______ 67.______ 68.______ 69.______ 70.______

因why not do sth 何不做某事?

  66.at 考查固定介词短语与price搭配,表示“以更低价格”用 at a lower price,故用at。

it 指代salt.

a small amount of(少量的)是固定搭配。

  第六处:but改为and或or 考查连词。
