  四川省西昌市2016高考英语阅读理解和信息匹配类练习(4)

  阅读下列四篇短文,从每小题后所给的A,B,C或D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Which are you more likely to have with you at any given moment—your cellphone or your wallet? Soon you may be able to throw your wallet away and pay for things with a quick wave of your smart phone over an electronic scanner.

In January, Starbucks announced that customers could start using their phones to buy coffee in 6, 800 of its stores. This is the first pay-by-phone practice in the U. S. , but we’re likely to see more wireless payment alternatives as something called near field communication(NFC) gets into America’s consumer electronics. Last December, some new smart phones which contain an NFC chip were introduced to the public.

Already in use in parts of Asia and Europe, NFC allows shoppers to wave their phones a few inches above a payment terminal—a contact-free system built for speed and convenience. But before NFC becomes widely adopted in the U. S. , a few problems need to be worked out, like who will get to collect the profitable transaction (交易) fees. Although some credit card providers have been experimenting with wave-and-pay systems that use NFC-enabled credit cards, cellphone service providers may try to muscle their way into the point-of-sale(POS) market. Three big cellphone service providers have formed a joint venture (合资企业) that will go into operation over the next 15 months. Its goal is “to lead the U. S. payments industry from cards to mobile phones.”

The other big NFC issue, apart from how payments will be processed, is security. For instance, what’s to stop a thief from digitally pickpocketing you? “We’re still not at the point where an attacker can just brush against you in a crowd and steal all the money out of your phone,” says Jimmy Shah, a mobile-security researcher. “Users may also be able to set transaction limits, perhaps requiring a password to be entered for larger purchases.”

Still uneasy about this digital-wallet business? Keep in mind that if you lose your smart phone, it can be located on a map and remotely disabled. Plus, your phone can be password protected. Your wallet isn’t.

  1. What is predicted to happen in the U. S. ?

  A. The expansion of cellphone companies.

  B. The boom of pay-by-phone business.

  C. The disappearance of credit cards.

  D. The increase of Starbucks sales.

  2. The NFC technology can be used to .

  A. ensure the safety of shoppers

  B. collect transaction fees easily

  C. make purchase faster and simpler

  D. improve the quality of cellphones

  3. Three cellphone service providers form a joint venture to .

  A. strengthen their relationship

  B. get a share in the payments industry

  C. sell more cellphones

  D. test the NFC technology

  4. According to the passage, what can users do if they lose their smart phones?

  A. Stop the functioning of their phones.

  B. Set up a password.

  C. Get all the money out of their phones.

  D. Cancel large purchases.

  阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

To hitchhike successfully in any country you must be able to do two things:attract attention and at the same time convince the driver at a glance that you do not intend to rob or murder him. To fulfill the first requirement you must have some marks to let drivers distinguish you at once from all other hikers. A serviceman, for instance, should wear his uniform,a student his scarf. In a foreign country an unmistakable indication of your own nationality will also arrest a driver's attention.

When I hitchhiked 9,500 miles across the United States and back recently I wore a welltailored suit,a bowler hat and a trench coat, and carried a pencilthin rolled black umbrella. My suitcase was decorated with British flags. Having plenty of luggage, moreover,I was not likely to be suspected of being a dangerous lunatic (精神病患者).I then had to get across to the driver the idea that I was a real traveler, and needed to get somewhere cheaply.

But even with careful preparation, you must not assume that the task will be easy. You should be prepared to wait a little, for there are drivers who confess to a fierce prejudice against,(not to say hatred of),hitchhikers, and would no more pick up a hiker than march from Aldermaston to London. In America,my average wait was half an hour, and my longest two hours, but I have heard of people waiting all day—they probably took less pains to make themselves easy to notice.

Nor must you assume that all the drivers who stop for you are nice, normal people. On one occasion I found myself was with two boys of about nineteen who turned out to be on the run from the police, and were hoping to use me as an alibi(不在犯罪现场的证人).There are also lesser(较小的)risks:you may find yourself in the car of a Fascist fanatic,a Mormon missionary(传教士),or just a bad driver. You cannot tell,of course until you are in the car. But you soon learn the art of the quick excuse that gets you out again.

If the hitchhiker in the U.S. remembers that he is seeking the willingness of drivers to give him a free ride, and is prepared to give in exchange entertainment and company, and not go to sleep,he will come across the remarkable, almost legendary, hospitality of American of the West. It will also help if he can drive—I drove myself about 4,500 of those 9,500 miles I hitchhiked in the States.

1.A hitchhiking serviceman should wear his uniform ________.

A.so as not to look too unusual

  B.to attract attention

C.to show he is on duty

D.to put the driver at ease

2.In Paragraph 3,we learn that the writer ________.

A.has sometimes failed to hitch a ride

B.has marched from Aldermaston to London

C.has always been successful in hitching a ride

D.has had to wait for long hours for a ride

3.In the last paragraph, the writer wants to tell us that a hitchhiker should ________.

A.not talk to the driver too much

B.fall asleep to make it a peaceful ride

C.try to make himself pleasant and entertaining

  D.seek the willingness of drivers

4.A suitable title for the passage would be ________.

  A.“The Art of Hitchhiking”

  B.“An Englishman's View of the U.S.”

  C.“An English Hitchhiker”

D.“The Joys and Dangers of Hitchhiking”

  答案:1——4 BCCA

The Child ego state is a set of behaviors, thoughts and feelings which are replayed from our own childhood.

Perhaps the boss calls us into his or her office, we may immediately get a churning in our stomach and wonder what we have done wrong. If this were explored we might remember the time the head teacher called us in to tell us off. Of course, not everything in the Child ego state is negative. We might go into someone’s house and smell a lovely smell and remember our grandmother’s house when we were little, and all the same warm feelings we had at six years of age may come flooding back.

The Child ego states are constantly being updated. For example, we may meet someone who gives us the permission we needed as a child, and did not get, to be fun and joyous. We may well use that person in our imagination when we are stressed to resist our old ways of thinking that we must work longer and longer hours to keep up with everything. We might ask ourselves “I wonder what X would say now.” Then on hearing the new permissions to relax and take some time out, do just that and then return to the work renewed and ready for the challenge. Afterwards, rather than blaming ourselves for what we did or did not do, what tends to happen is that we automatically start to give ourselves new permissions and take care of ourselves.

Alternatively, we might have had an extremely unpleasant experience yesterday which goes into the Child ego state as an antique memory that stands in the way of our growth. Positive experiences will also go into the Child ego state as antique memories. The positive experiences can then be drawn on to remind us that positive things do happen.

The process of analyzing personality in terms of ego states is called structural analysis. It is important to remember that ego states do not have an existence of their own. They are concepts to enable understanding. Therefore it is important to say “I want some fun” rather than “My Child wants some fun.” We may be in our Child ego state when we say this, but saying “I” reminds us to take responsibility for our actions.

  1. The writer uses two examples in Paragraph 2 in order to _____.

  A. prove the Child ego state is negative

  B. explain why we become nervous

  C. support the idea in Paragraph 1

  D. introduce the point of Paragraph 3

  2. By asking “I wonder what X would say now”, we intend to __________.

  A. blame ourselves

  B. avoid stress

  C. keep up with everything

  D. accept challenges

  3. According to the passage, the Child ego state __________.

  A. exists in one’s childhood

  B. shows one’s wisdom

  C. limits one’s thoughts

  D. influences one’s actions

  4. The underlined word “this” in the last paragraph refers to __________.

  A. “I want some fun”

  B. “My Child wants some fun”

  C. the Child ego state

  D. structural analysis

  根据短文内容,从下框的A~F选项中选出能概括每一段主题的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余项,并在答题卡上将该选项涂黑。

  A. Sitting at the back means fewer food options.

  B. Flight attendants get paid only for flight hours.

  C. Flight attendants’ job is to keep passengers safe.

  D. Flight attendants might water down your drinks.

  E. Flight attendants are trained to identify criminals.

  F. The seat-belt sign is “on” far longer than necessary.

Things An Air Hostess Won't Tell You

To make things a bit easier for them and ensure a smooth flight, many Flight attendants have little tricks under their sleeves. Here are some of them which they won't tell you out of sheer politeness.

  61.__________

Contrary to what most people think, a flight attendant's primary job is to ensure your safety - the helping and serving part of their job are just add-ons. If they are assisting you with your luggage, it is to make sure it is stored properly and does not harm anyone. They are not required to lift your bags or help you take them elsewhere. All the other assistance, such as providing you with a drink, handing you hot towels, etc., are to make sure you stay calm and satisfied.

  62. __________

As unfair as it may seem, the time that a flight attendant spends in getting the plane ready, settling you down, etc., is not included in their salary. They do, however, receive some expense allowance(津贴) for the entire time they clock in - it is a pretty small income though

  63. __________

If a flight attendant feels a passenger is ordering too many drinks, and getting drunk, they might avoid serving him/her by avoiding eye contact. When that fails, they might just fill the glass half-way or give him/her a diluted (稀释的) drink

  64. __________

A number of training programs and workshops exist to train flight attendants in different aspects. As some people are using flights more and more to smuggle (走私), flight attendants are being regarded as the first line of defense against this heinous (邪恶的)crime. The benefits are already evident - a number of dangers are avoided, thanks to alert(警惕的) flight attendants on board

  65. __________

This is a bit unfortunate for those sitting at the back of the plane, but nevertheless true. As the attendants start serving from the front of the plane to the back, the variety of drinks or meals might go down. This is because a plane has limited space, only a certain number of items can be stored, and by the time they get to the back of the plane, they run out of at least a few of the options. 【参考答案】61—65
