BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou Evergrande and Jiangsu FC respectively got a 2-2 draw and a 2-1 victory on Wednesday's AFC Champions league, remaining unbeaten in the 2017 tournament.
Alex Teixeira Santos broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when his team Jiangsu facing against Adelaide United in Nanjing. Jiangsu were in command on the home soil, but the Chinese Super League side didn't enlarge their advantages before the half time whistle.
Jiangsu's opponent made a 'equalizer' in the 69th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Teixeira earned his second goal in the 71st minute, controlling the ball into the left side of the penalty zone and sending the ball into the net through a small angle shoot.
In the injury time of the second half, Eli Babalj pulled one back with a header, but it was too late for the Australian side. Jiangsu topped Group H with two constitutive wins after the game, and their Australian opponents suffered their second straight defeat.
"We are happy to earn two straight victories, but we should work harder to avoid making mistakes," said Choi Yong-Soo, Jiangsu's head coach.
In Suwon, South Korea, two-time winners Guangzhou Evergrande preserved their unbeaten record with a 2-2 draw at Suwon Samsung Bluewings. The CSL defending champion equalized twice in the 24th and 81st minute, bringing precious one point home to be the bellwether of Group G.
Eastern SC of Hong Kong, who was smashed by Guangzhou 0-7 last round, hold an astonishing 1-1 draw with Kawasaki Frontale of Japan in Mong Kok Stadium. The champion of Chinese Hong Kong earned its first point in the Champion League.
In the other Group H game played on Wednesday, Gamba Osaka lost to Jeju United 1-4.
