RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian Michel Macedo has been shortlisted by Barcelona to replace injured right-back Aleix Vidal for the rest of the season, according to media reports.
Vidal was ruled out for at least the next five months after dislocating his right ankle in Barcelona's 6-0 victory at Alaves in La Liga on Saturday.
The injury means Barcelona are left without a recognized right-back, with only midfielder Sergi Roberto having experience in the position.
According to the ESPN Brazil news outlet, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is keen to draft a player into Barcelona's squad for the rest of the season to fill the void left by Vidal.
Among those at the top of his wish-list is Macedo, who has impressed with Las Palmas this season after joining the Canary Islands club from Almeria.
Others being considered are Valencia's Joao Cancelo, Celta Vigo's Jonny Castro and Eibar's Ander Capa, the outlet said.
Spain's football rules allow clubs to replace players who are sidelined for the rest of the season if the new signing is arriving from another Spanish club.
