BERLIN, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Mainz have completed a loan deal with Stoke City midfielder Bojan Krkic Perez, the Bundesliga club confirmed in an official stament on Sunday.
The 26-year-old striker, who began his professional career with Barcelona, has put pen to paper on a six-month loan deal, which keeps him at Mainz until the end of the season.
"With Bojan we signed a powerful, dangerous and creative midfielder with outstanding qualities. He can play on all offensive positions," Mainz' head coach Martin Schmidt told the club's official homepage.
Bojan Krkic Perez started his career at Barcelona's youth academy 'La Masia,' where he joined at the age of nine. After playing his way through the youth teams, he made his first team debut with 17 years and 19 days to break Lionel Messi's record as the youngest player for Barca.
"It is an honor for me that Mainz gave me the opportunity to prove myself in another European top league. I am looking forward to the team as well as to the supporters and to help Mainz on the pitch soon," Bojan said.
The Spaniard played until 2011 for Barcelona and scored 26 goals in 104 appearances. After several loan deals in Europe's top flight leagues, he has played since 2017 for Premier League side Stoke City where he provided 14 goals in 52 outings.
Midtable team Mainz encounter Hoffenheim in the 19th round of Bundesliga action on Saturday.
