THE HAGUE, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Dutch league leaders Feyenoord booked a 4-0 win over NEC on Sunday to maintain their five-point lead over Ajax.
After their exit in the quarter-finals of the Dutch Cup against Vitesse (2-0) on Thursday, Feyenoord can now fully focus on the league. Steven Berghuis and Eljero Elia scored before Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen added two goals in the final minutes.
Also on Sunday, Ajax beat ADO Den Haag 3-0 in Amsterdam. Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring, while Lasse Schone converted a free-kick and Kasper Dolberg produced the third goal fifteen minutes from time.
In other action, SC Heerenveen and FC Groningen drew 0-0 on Sunday, FC Twente beat PEC Zwolle 2-1 in Zwolle and Vitesse defeated AZ in Arnhem.
On Saturday, PSV had a narrow escape at Heracles Almelo. After an early Heracles penalty by Samuel Armenteros was saved by PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet Bart Ramselaar gave the visitors the lead in the second half. Samuel Armenteros equalized with a volley, but Davy Propper handed PSV the late 2-1 win in the 87th minute.
Also on Saturday, Roda JC Kerkrade scored its first goals since the end of November by defeating Excelsior 4-0.
Feyenoord now lead the Eredivisie table with 51 points from 20 matches, with Ajax (46) still chasing with five and PSV (43) with a deficit of eight points.
