BERLIN, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Wolfsburg have reinforced their offense with the signing of midfielder Paul Geroges Ntep, the "Wolves" confirmed in an official statement on Monday.
The Frenchman joined from Stade Rennais F.C. after putting pen to paper on a deal until June 2021. Ntep received the jersey number 9 at his new club.
"We have observed Paul-Georges Ntep path intensively in recent years and are glad that he opted to join Wolfsburg. He is fast, strong in one-on-one situations and a threat for every defence," Wolfsburg's sporting director Olaf Rebbe said.
The 24-year-old new arrival played since 2016 for Rennais where he provided 18 goals in 74 competitive outings. His performances in French's top flight earned him a berth in France's national team in June 2015. He made overall two caps ever since.
"With the signing of Paul-Georges we have significantly increased the quality of our squad," Wolfsburg's head coach Valerien Ismael said. "He is fast, technically gifted and, despite his young age, already enormously experienced," he added.
The "Wolves" sit currently on the 13th place of the Bundesliga standings. They encounter Hamburg at the start of the second half of the season on January 21.
