BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Stephon Marbury scored 41 points, 20 in the final quarter, to carry Beijing over Shanxi 85-75 in CBA on Wednesday.
It' s the second straight victory for the former CBA powerhouse, who claimed three CBA titles in the past five years.
Beijing has experienced a tough season because of the injury of several key players. The team collects 14 wins in 25 games, staying on the eighth place on CBA ranking.
Jamaal Franklin made game-high 36 points for Shanxi, but too many turnovers in the final quarter kept the visiting team away from victory.
CBA leading team Shanghai suffered the second straight loss after losing to Shenzhen 103-101. Shanghai top scorer Jimmer Fredette was trapped by a special defending plan of the host team. The two teams tied into the final quarter until Shenzhen leader Jeremy Pargo made a jump shot with 0.1 second left.
Last season' s runner-up Liaoning was shocked 113-109 by Jilin, calling an end to their recent five-game winning streak.
Another hot team Shandong was much luckier. Thanks to the 36 points from local talent Ding Yanyuhang, Shandong overwhelmed another strong team Guangsha 130-117.
In Wednesday' s other games, Guangdong beat Fujian 123-113, Qingdao defeated Tongxi 117-106, Jiangsu lost to Xinjiang 109-98, Sichuan hammered Guangzhou 114-88, Tianjin outscored Aolong 124-100, Zhejiang edged Bayi 88-83.
