英语的书面表达题是高考的重要组成部分，是对英语学习综合运用能力进行考查的题目，在高考中占有相当大的比重，而许多学生，在此方面失分很多，以致影响了最后总分。但在平时训练与高考应试中如能掌握其解题要领与技巧，得分可能比前几道题型容易得多。那么，如何训练学生的书面表达？要领与技巧又是什么呢？
一、加强词汇学习，夯实英语基础
英语词汇是英语最基本的单位，离开了单词，学英语就成了无本之木，无源之水。词汇是写作的基础，记忆和背诵是让学生扩大词汇量最传统、最简单的方法。首先要求学生背诵高考词汇表；其次，帮助学生将单词、词组归纳整理，进行比较，强化记忆。
二、从基本词汇的运用着手，强化五个基本句型的训练。
在掌握了基本词汇的基础上，反复训练，熟悉并掌握五个基本句型。
1． 主语+系动词+表语
The farm looks like a large beautiful garden.
2． 主语+谓语（不及物）（+状语）。
After visiting some places, we were singing and dancing in an open area.
Now great changes have taken place in our school.
3． 主语+谓语（及物）+宾语（+其它）
He likes English very much.
I want to borrow some books from the library.
I found (that) the driver was a woman.
4． 主语+谓语（及物）+双宾语（+其它）。
My English teacher offered me some books on English study.
Yesterday I met the expert who once gave us a talk on the computer.
5． 主语+谓语（及物）+宾语+宾补

另外，除以上五个简单的基本句型结构外，还应让学生特别注意it的常见句型。
(1) It was 7:15 on the morning of Feb.8, 2000.（表时间）
(2) It's only half an hour's walk from here to the picnic spot. （表距离）
(3) It's fine / clear / sunny / cloudy / raining / snowing. （表天气）
(4) （形式主语或形式宾语）

在写作的开始阶段，要狠抓基本功训练，培养学生良好的写作习惯。句子是文章的基本单位，在学生掌握五种基本句型，能写出正确的简单句之后，适当多做汉译英练习，发挥汉译英在高中英语写作教学中的作用，它是训练学生连词成句的必要手段。这样的练习，不但能使学生了解汉语和英语在表达方式上的异同，而且能提高他们学习英语的兴趣，提高用词的准确性。笔者每天坚持让学生做3-5句汉译英练习，由易到难，循序渐进，夯实学生连词成句的能力。
句子和语法是分不开的，平时，要反复训练使用常见的英语句型，对常见的语法内容（如时态、被动语态、情态动词、非谓语动词、定语从句、状语从句、名词性从句等）要进行专题训练，力求达到熟练运用。例如：我在复习教学中每天运用一种时态和一种句式让学生进行造句训练，逐步达到句型结合时态熟练运用的效果。
四、注重写作形式，提高写作兴趣与能力。
在掌握了词汇、句子及语法的基础上，紧密结合课文，进行变式训练，让学生多做仿写、改写、缩写等形式的写作练习，这样才能逐渐掌握扎实的写作基础知识，综合所学知识，进行书面交际。如学习了Madame Curie, Captain Cook等有关人物介绍的文章后，我先把高中所有有关人物介绍的文章做个归纳，分析比较常用的"三段式"写作，总结比较常用的一些句型。然后以图表、文字说明或以话题的形式布置相关的人物介绍类的写作任务，如：Bill Gates, My Teacher等。这类练习既可以使学生运用所学的语言知识，巩固所学内容，又可以学习所学文章如何组织材料，加深对课文的理解，提高学生的语篇能力，还能调动学生的积极性，使学生感到学有所用，从而引导学生学习初步的写作技巧，拓展学生的思维。
