英语中和“山”“河”有关的习语

Mountain(高山)和river(河流)总是相伴左右，形影不离~~mountain高耸入云，river则汇入大海(sea)。在习语的表达中，mountain，river，sea也有不同的趣味表达，一起看看吧!

1.sell someone down the river 出卖某人(在紧要关头)

River指河流，如the River Thames泰晤士河。River mouth指河流的入海口。

They will take advantage of you and sell you down the river.

他们将会利用你之后出卖你。

2.at sea 茫然(不知所措;迷惑;完全复原;不再疼痛)

Sea指大海/海洋。这个短语的本意是航行，引申义为茫然不知所措。

They spent about two months at sea.

他们在海上航行了大约两个月。

He was all at sea when he began to learn programming.

当开始学习编程时，他完全不知道该怎么办。

3.make a mountain out of molehill 小题大做

Mountain一词指的是比较高大的山(a very high hill)，如山脉、高山。也可表示大量的意思(a large amount of something)。在短语搭配中常以译为“大量的某物”。Hill指比mountain小的小山丘，丘陵。此处Molehill指鼹鼠刨土堆出的小山丘，引申义为小困难。

You are not hurt badly. Stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill with crying.

你的伤并不重，不要小题大做，这么放声大哭。

move mountains to do something 费很大力气做某事

They moved mountains to finish the project.

他们竭尽全力完成项目。
