Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas was ruled out of the League Cup final on Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury in Wednesday's match, revealed the Premier League side on Thursday.
Fabregas, 23, hobbled off after only 14 minutes with a hamstring problem on Wednesday but his teammates made sure to take a 1-0 victory over Stoke City at Emirates.
"It is a very small injury but certainly Cesc will be out for Sunday," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told the Arsenal TV Online on Thursday evening. "For how long (beyond that) I don't know but definitely for Sunday."
"He is disappointed. We all feel sorry and sad for him. The only way we help him now is to win the Carling Cup as he contributed a lot in this competition," the Frenchman said as his team is going to fight for the trophy against Birmingham City at Wembley on Sunday.
England winger Theo Walcott will also miss the match on Sunday as he sprained his ankle in the same Premier League game.
