Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain has successfully undergone a surgery on his low back in the United States on Tuesday, said the Spanish giants.
The 23-year-old Higuain had sustained a slipped disc which ruled him out of the field for some six weeks. After the successful keyhole surgery, the Argentina international is expected to be discharged on Wednesday.
Higuain, who was signed from River Plate in 2007, has emerged as coach Jose Mourinho's first choice striker this season. He scored 10 goals in 17 games before being sidelined because of the injury.
Real, which are currently second ranked on the league table with two points behind the leaders Barcelona, didn't reveal when Higuain could return to first-team action.
