体坛英语资讯：Uruguayan Forlan regards 2010 as his best year

Uruguayan star soccer player Diego Forlan, winner of the Golden Ball in South Africa, said that the year 2010 was the most important year in his trajectory.

Forlan said in an interview published on Monday by the newspaper El Pais, "Yes, it is definitely one of best years that I have had as a professional."

Forlan is enjoying his vacation in the Uruguayan beach town Punta del Este, 140 kilometers east of Montevideo, where he is recovering from an ankle injury.

"What we accomplished with the national team and with the Athletic Club of Madrid was very important for my career," said the player, who helped Uruguay finish in fourth place at the World Cup.

Forlan was an important player this year who helped the Athletic Club of Madrid win the Europa League and the Super Cup of the UEFA (European Union Soccer Association).

He said that he had "other wonderful years also, like the two Golden Boots (goalie for European leagues) that I won. But this year was very good."

He also talked about his personal life and his marriage next year with Argentine model Zaira Nara, although he only said "you' ll soon find out."

"Obviously the relationship with Zaira is growing and we are getting to know each other more and more, and that makes the ( wedding) date closer," he said.

Forlan played golf to benefit his sister's foundation, who runs an NGO that works to prevent car accidents. Enditem
