Several matches have already bitten the dust because of the freezing conditions which have swept the UK, English news agency Press Association said.
Tuesday's FA Cup second-round replay between Lincoln and Hereford has been postponed for a third time due to a frozen pitch at Sincil Bank.
Following an inspection at 10.30 on Monday morning, the playing surface was deemed to be unsafe and, with the temperature not forecast to get above -5 for the rest of the day, the decision was made to call the game off.
In Scotland, the FA Cup third-round replays between Beith and Airdrie, Threave and Stenhousemuir, along with Annan's clash with Brechin, have also been called off.
