Rematch to the finals of the 2010 Brazilian Cup, Santos and Vitoria battled to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship.
The emotionless match left both teams with a sensation of losing as neither team was able to improve their position on the leader board.
Santos scored the game's opening goal in the 33rd minute. In front of the goal, Marquinhos rolled the ball off to Neymar, slipping a great shot past goalie Viafara.
Vitoria responded by scoring in the 40th minute. Dribbling through the Santos defense, Bida passed the ball to Junior who then fired a shot into the open left side of the goal, tying the match.
The result keeps Santos in fifth place with 50 points. In the 34th round, the team will travel to face Atletico-MG on November 6.
Vitoria remains in fourteenth place with 38 points. In the next round of play, the team will receive Cruzeiro on November 7.
Only five rounds of play remain in this year's running point tournament.
