Vladimir Vermezovic, coach for South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Kaizer Chiefs, walked out on the press at the club's media day on Thursday.
The angry coach said he would no longer make himself available to the media.
Chiefs play Platinum Stars at the Rand Stadium, Johannesburg, on Saturday night.
According to the South African Press Association (SAPA), the coach said he was disappointed at an article misquoting him in a South African newspaper. In it he was quoted as saying he was a better striker than one of his players, Kaizer Motaung junior.
This was after Chiefs lost to Bloemfontein Celtic on penalties in the annual Macufe Cup in Bloemfontein at the weekend. Chiefs football Manager Bobby Motaung said he would approach Vermezovic for an explanation.
"I will deal with this. The coach took me by surprise by what he said. I was not expecting this statement," Motaung told SAPA.
"It was emotional and when he calms down I will talk to him and sort this out." Motaung said football need the media and welcomed constructive criticism.
