The 30th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships concluded here on Sunday as the host Russia grabbed the last two gold medals in group finals.
China's group was not qualified for Sunday's finals as they ranked 11th and 12th respectively at 5 hoops and 3 ribbons/2 ropes one day ago.
Russia's group managed to redeem themselves after running into the 5 hoops final ranking merely the 7th with a qualifying score of 25.275, as they gave a breathtaking show in the final, outscoring Italy by 0.1 to secure the gold with 27.975. Bulgaria came third with 27.10 points.
On 3 ribbons/2 ropes, the reigning world champions Italy were outperformed by host Russia. Belarus grabbed a bronze medal.
Following is the final medal count: Russia, eight golds, five silvers and one bronze; Italy, one gold and two silvers; Belarus, two silvers and two bronzes; Azerbaijan, five bronzes; Bulgaria, one bronze.
The 31st Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships will be staged in Montpellier, France in Sept. 2011.
