Cruzeiro's nine-round unbeaten run came to an end when they lost 4-1 to Santos on Saturday in the 25th round of the Brazilian championship.
The win keeps Santos in the fifth place with 38 points. In the 26th round of play, the team will travel to face Vasco da Gama on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Cruzeiro remains in third place with 44 points. In the next round of play, the team will host Atletico-GO on Wednesday.
All of the game's goals came in the second half. Santos scored first in the 54th minute when Marcel followed up a rebounded Ze Eduardo shot, tapping the ball past a helpless keeper Fabio.
In the 70th minute, Santos doubled their lead when Edu Dracena headed in a stopped ball off the feet of Marquinhos.
Cruzeiro pulled one goal back in the 80th minute when Thiago Ribeiro kicked in a rebound after Robert's shot on goal was batted down by keeper Rafael.
Santos responded by scoring twice more. In the 88th minute Alex Sandro dribbled down the field and through the defense and lofted the ball over the head of Fabio and into the goal.
Neymar completed the rout in injury time. Dribbling quickly past the defense, he angled the ball into the right corner of the Cruzeiro goal.
Elsewhere, Guarani beat Vasco da Gama 1-0 at home with a controversial penalty kick, Flamengo went down 3-1 to Palmeiras, Atletico-GO thrashed Gremio Prudente 3-0.
