Svetlana Podobedova of Kazakhstan set three new world records in the women's 75kg category at the world weightlifting championships here Thursday.
The 24-year-old world record holder and world champion in 2009 managed to refresh all the three records -- 132kg in the snatch, 160kg in the clean and jerk and 292kg in total -- all set by herself in the world championships in Goyang, South Korea, last year.
Succeeding in all her five lifts, with the last attempt given up, Podobedova won cheers and applauses with her steady performance.
Russian weightlifter Natalia Zabolotnaya also broke the previous world record by conquering 133kg in the snatch and lifting a total of 293kg but was soon overtaken by Podobedova.
Zabolotnaya won the silver, while the bronze went to Nadezda Evstyukhina, Russia's 22-year-old bronze medalist in 2008 Beijing Olympics, who lifted 283kg in total.
