Petr Cech bravely saved Clint Dempsey's penalty kick in the last minute, earning Chelsea a goalless draw to Fulham in the Premier League on Monday.
Spaniard Fernando Torres started for the defending champions for the second time, but failed to score before he was replaced by striker Didier Drogba in the 70th minute.
The 26-year-old Torres found his best chance just before the interval as he stormed all the way down to the area but finished with a weak left-foot kick which was saved by Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer comfortably.
Chelsea dominated the second half, but Fulham were much closer to break the deadlock. In the fourth minute in the stoppage time, Dempsey was fouled by David Luiz in the box, but the American's spotkick was saved by Cech.
Chelsea were in the fifth place with 12 points behind leaders Manchester United with 12 games remaining.
