In front of their home crowd, Cruzeiro came from behind to beat Palmeiras 3-2 in the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship on Sunday.
With three goals in the second half, Cruzeiro won their last match of the first half of the tournament.
An injured Palmeiras goalie Marcos led to his team' s demise. The team opened a 2-0 lead after scoring two goals in the first 35 minutes. The first came from Kleber, converting a penalty kick. Seconds later, Mauricio Ramos headed in a corner kick from Marcos Assuncao.
However, with Marcos in the goal, Cruzeiro was able to score three times in the second half to win the match. Roger scored first in the 59th minute, placing a rebounded shot into the back of the goal. The equalizer came in the 64th minute, Montilla dribbled through the defense, blowing the ball past keeper Deola. The game-winning goal came in the 85th minute when Farias pushed in a crossed ball from Thiago Ribeiro.
The result takes Cruzeiro to fifth place with 31 points. In the 20th round of play, the team will host Internacional on September 8.
Palmeiras drops to eleventh place with 24 points. In the next round of play, the team will travel to play Vitoria on September 8.
