Beijing Olympic bronze medal winner China overpowered Asian champion Thailand 3-0 here on Saturday for its second straight win at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament.
With 25-16, 25-16 and 25-22 victory, the Chinese women gained a sweet revenge for its upset loss against the Thais in the Asian Championships final last September.
Going down tamely in the first two sets, Thailand put up some real resistance in the third, erasing an early 4-1 deficit to overtake the lead at 12-11. Then the Chinese ran off six points in a row thanks to some brilliant blocks of Zhang Lei, and Xu Yunli to make it 17-12.
Thailand managed to pull within 20-18, but that's the closest they could go.
Earlier on Saturday, the Netherlands swept Puerto Rico 25-9, 25-12 and 25-21 to improve to a 2-0 win-loss record. China and the Netherlands will clash Sunday evening for the top honor of this four-team round-robin tournament.
