The president of the Flamengo soccer club, Patricia Amorim, announced on Monday that she is personally in charge of reeling in Ronaldinho Gaucho.
The midfielder was previously sought out by the team, but Flamengo's financial restrictions inhibited the transaction.
With the departure of Adriano and Vagner Love, Flamengo's financial situation improved greatly. The club announced that it will pile up over five million U.S. dollars for the AC Milan player.
Amorim also stated that a large portion of that money will come from a telecommunication sponsor. Amorim admits that three meetings have taken place.
At least one meeting has included the presence of the athlete who is currently in Rio de Janeiro on vacation. Flamengo wants Ronaldinho for at least one year.
Other teams are also currently seeking Ronaldinho Gaucho. Greece's Olympiakos is known to have made the athlete an offer.
However, what really caught the attention of the player was an offer by the American team of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Ronaldinho currently has one year left on his contract with AC Milan. Ronaldinho's agent and brother, Assis, is currently traveling.
Amorim awaits his return in order to continue with the hopeful negotiation. Despite having the legendary Zico at her disposition, who recently signed on with Flamengo as the director of soccer, Amorim wants to handle the case personally.
