The Mexican international was forced to withdraw from the squad that traveled to Bilbao on Friday night after feeling unwell and his case was confirmed as swine flu by a communique issued by the club on Saturday.
Marquez, who missed the early part of the season with a muscle injury, is the third Barcelona player to be diagnosed with the illness.
Left back Eric Abidal and central midfielder Toure Yaya were confirmed as being infected with the virus one day earlier. Abidalwas already sidelined with a knee injury he picked up playing for France last week.
