Uruguay booked the 32nd and last spot in next year's World Cup finals in South Africa after taking a 2-1 aggregate playoff win on Wednesday. Uruguay bagged a 1-1 in the second leg of the playoff. They won the first match 1-0 on Saturday in Costa Rica.
Sebastian Abreu gave Uruguay a 1-0 lead on a header in the 70thminute, and Walter Centeno leveled in the 74th on a 16-meter strike.
Uruguay won the 1930 and 1950 World Cups.
Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Argentina had already advanced from South America. Uruguay went into the playoffs as the fifth place finisher in the South American zone.
The United States, Mexico and Honduras are the qualifiers from the North and Central American and Caribbean region.
