The negotiations between Muricy Ramalho and the Palmeiras soccer team came to a halt on Friday as both sides refused to budge. As a result of the failure to compromise to Ramalho's demands, the team now looks to hire Vasco's current head coach, Durival Junior.
Ramalho, former head coach of Sao Paulo, was discarded due to his high demands on the financial end of the deal. Due to the team's tight budget, Ramalho was taken off the short list of coaches to fill Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
The club wants to take their time to make sure that they are selecting the right coach for the right crew of athletes. The last thing they want to do is rush into a decision that will be detrimental to the team.
They say that there is no time limit to the decision of the new head coach.
This Friday, Dorival Junior was questioned about the possibility of leaving his team from Rio de Janeiro and heading to Palmeiras in Sao Paulo.
He remains that he has nothing to comment regarding the situation.
Palmeiras will continue to be headed by Jorginho, the team's assistant coach as they head into their game on July 11 against Nautico. In Jorginho's last game as head coach, he led his team to a 3-0 victory.
